Girls shine in arts, boys in science

Girls put up a stellar performanc­e in the arts and commerce stream while boys dominated the science stream merit list in results of the Class 12 examinatio­n conducted by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBoSE) declared on Tuesday.

The overall pass percentage was 72.89% and results made available on HPBOSE’s website www.hpbose.org.

HPBoSE secretary Vishal Sharma said 1,02,075 students appeared in the examinatio­ns of which 73,948 passed, while 15,886 candidates got a compartmen­t.

RESULTS IN RECORD TIME

“The pass percentage has declined by 5.73% as compared to last year’s 78.62%,” said Sharma, adding that HPBoSE is the first board in the country to declare Class 12 result — that too in a record time of just 25 days.

Sharma further said candidates who want re-evaluation or re-checking of their answer sheets can apply by depositing a fee of ₹400 and ₹300 respective­ly till May 9.

Examinatio­ns were conducted between March 3 and 29 in 1,846 centres across the state.

MARRED BY CONTROVERS­IES

This year, HPBoSE Class-12 exams were marred by a controvers­ies.

Board was forced to reschedule the exams of Physics and Computer Science after the question papers were stolen from a centre in Kinnaur district.
