Baahubali 2 shatters records, makes ₹121 cr on opening day
Breaking all box office records, “Baahubali: The Conclusion” has earned ₹121 crore net on the opening day.
Elated Karan Johar, who is the presenter of the Hindi version of the SS Rajamouli-directed movie, took to Twitter to share the record breaking first day collection of the film.
“Grand India Total of 121 crore net! Hindi is 41 crore! Tamil+ Telegu+ Malayalam = 80 crore! History has been created!” (sic) Johar tweeted.
The film has broken the opening day records of Salman Khan and Aamir Khan’s blockbusters “Sultan” (₹36.54 crore) and “Dangal” (₹29.78 crore).Originally made in Telugu, the second part in the franchise was dubbed in Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Hindi version of the film collected ₹36.54 crore. “Truly sensational... ₹36.54. Hindi,” Taran tweeted.
The Telugu version of the film netted a whopping ₹53 crore, according to trade analyst Trinath.
“The film has taken a phenomenal opening. In Andhra and Telangana, the film in Telugu minted ₹53 crore, making it the biggest opening ever for any film across language in the two states. The film is expected to collect over ₹100 crore from the two states over the weekend,” he said. In Tamil Nadu, the film collected around ₹12 crore on the first day.
“If the early morning shows were not cancelled across TamilNaduonFriday,the film could have collected even more. According to early estimates, it has minted around ₹12 crore. It’s going to pick up over the weekend...,” Trinath added.
