Yuvraj injury not serious, says VVS
MOHALI: At the fag end of the IPL season and just before the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, the last thing Yuvraj Singh would want is an injury.
Injuries, however, seems to be teasing the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), batsman. Yuvraj Singh endured an injury scare during the IPL-10 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal on Monday. The left-handed batsman was seen nursing his little finger while fielding for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Yuvraj is already nursing his calf injury and the latest niggle -on his finger could put his Champions Trophy participation in doubt. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman brushed aside the scare.
Laxman believes it is not a serious injury and praised Yuvraj for coming out to bat despite hurting his finger. “He should be okay. Just that the hand got jammed into the ground while he was fielding,” explained Laxman.
“So there is some contusion, but luckily we are playing next enough time for him to recover.
BRAVING PAIN
“But credit to him to go out there in spite of the pain, taking the responsibility of going out to bat and win the match.”
Yuvraj made the cut in the 15-member ICC Champions Trophy 2017 squad which was also announced on Monday. The southpaw has scored 243 runs in 10 innings in the ongoing Indian Premier League, with the best being an unbeaten 70.
