Abhay accuses Haryana govt of scam in purchase of benches
Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Chautala on Wednesday accused Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government of committing what he termed as a “major scam” in purchase of benches for all the villages, towns, parks and public places in the state.
Briefing mediapersons here, the INLD leader who was accompanied by party’s state president Ashok Arora, alleged that the ruling BJP had committed a major scam in the purchase of benches for villages and towns, parks and other public places in the state. “While a bench is commonly available for about ₹2,200 or ₹2,500, the BJP has been buying the same for anything about ₹4,500 or ₹5,000,” he said, adding that the government had been purchasing about 50 to 100 benches for a village or town, depending upon their population
“The most shocking aspect of this scam is that these benches are being bought from the firms of BJP MLAs, leaders or their kin,” Abhay alleged and added that while he had ascertained some facts about this bungling, other facts would be known in the near future as party workers had sought more information through RTI applications.
PROTEST AGAINST CRIME AGAINST WOMEN
On the issue of increasing crime against women, including recent incidences of gangrapes in the state, Abhay said the government had failed on all fronts even as the law and order situation had worsened like never before. He said the INLD will hold a demonstration against the deteriorating law and order situation in Sonepat on May 19, led by Naina Chautala.
