3 cops face the music for shoddy work

-

: The Haryana director general of police (DGP) on Thursday suspended two policemen and shunted out the station house officer of Sonepat city police station for their shoddy approach in dealing with the gangrape case of a 20-year-old woman.

The decomposed body of the woman, who was gangraped and then smashed with bricks to death by her jilted lover, was found at a secluded spot in Rohtak last week.

The mother of the victim had told the media that they had complained about their daughter’s jilted lover to the police some time ago. However, no action was taken against him.

Taking cognisance of the mother’s complaint, the DGP suspended Sonepat ASI Joginder Singh for not properly dealing with the complaint. He also shunted out SHO Ajay Malik and shifted him to police lines.

The DGP also suspended ASI Samundar Singh from Rohtak on irregularities found in the paper work done for sending the victim’s body for post-mortem.

The ASI had allegedly written the gender of the body as male, on which the forensic department at PGIMS had rapped them.

Rohtak SP Pankaj Nain had maintained that it was a minor clerical error.

The DGP said taking note of the seriousness of the case, the police will complete its investigation and file a challan in the court within one month. HTC
