Tejas Express to run on Mumbai-Goa route by June

Tejas Express, one of the most awaited promises of Railway Budget 2016, is all set to ply on the Mumbai to Goa route from next month at a speed of 160 km/h. The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) delivered the first rake at Mumbai Central railway station on Thursday.

The newly designed coaches are capable of running at a speed of 200 km/h but due to track related constraint­s, the coaches will now run at a speed of 160 kmph on this route.

RCF sources said, “The 19-coach luxurious train was approved for six days a week on Chandigarh to Delhi route. But early this month the railway ministry asked the officials to first launch the train on the Mumbai to Goa route.”

As per informatio­n Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi would flag off the first superfast train of the country next month.

The train is equipped with over 20 new features including LCD screens for each passenger along with headphone sockets in AC coaches.

Railway officials, “Another train will be started on DelhiChand­igarh and Surat-Mumbai routes at the end of this year.”

“Each seat has an attendant call facility and the bell is integrated with the reading light. The executive chair car seats have adjustable headrest and arm support facilities. The nonexecuti­ve chair car doesn’t have the leg support facility ,” senior RCF public relations officer Baldev Raj said.

He said that facilities like wi-fi, star chefs-chosen menu, LCD screens on individual seats, LED lights will be provided to passengers.

As per informatio­n the trains will have bio-vacuum toilets with soap dispensers, odour control system, water taps with sensorsamo­ng other facilities.

The train will have 19 coaches including 16 non-executive chair cars, which can accommodat­e 78 passengers.

The train will also have two executive chair cars with a seating capacity of 56 passengers besides one power coach.
