29-year-old commits suicide, blames Jalandhar immigratio­n company

Blaming an immigratio­n firm of fraud, 29-yearold Naveen Kumar Teji of Guru Nanak Pura West committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his home here in the intervenin­g night of Saturday and Sunday.

The victim committed suicide after preparing a 18-minute video on his phone.

In the video, Teji asked his sister to take care of their family.

The victim also sent a message to his sister on WhatsApp informing that about the extreme step he was going to take.

As per neighboure­rs, the victim’s sister rushed to his room on the first floor after checking the message around 3.30 am and found Teji hanging with the ceiling fan.

After hearing the shouts, other residents woke up and reached Teji’s house.

They brought down the body and took him to a charitable hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead.

In the two-page suicide, the victim wrote that he had an agreement with Crown Immigratio­n Consultanc­y Service Private Limited for sending him to USA for ₹ 6.8 lakh on June 4.

On July 1, he paid ₹2 lakh and left the country on July 7 through firm.

He further mentioned that the firm’s travel agents took him to Armenia and then abandoned him at Georgia.

Then, Georgia police took him into custody.

The victim was released after he told them the entire story. With the help of his friends the victim came back here.

In December 2016, he lodged a complaint with the local police against the firm for cheating but no action was taken.

After getting informatio­n, assistant commission­er of police (ACP) Satinder Kumar Chadha and station house officer (SHO) Rama Mandi police station Bimal Kant arrived at the spot and sent the body for the postmortem.

Kant said a case has been registered and those named in the suicide note will be arrested soon.

Station house officer (SHO) said that a case under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 420 (cheating and dishonestl­y inducing delivery of property) and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the Crown Immigratio­n Consultanc­y Service Private limited’s Satish Bhardwaj, his wife and one Daman, all from Urban Estate .

The police official said that further investigat­ions are going on in the case
