GOVT LIFTS BAN ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN VALLEY
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government lifted the one month-long ban on 22 social media sites and applications in Kashmir, on Friday.
Access to the banned social media sites was restored at around 8.30pm, an official said.
On April 26, the Jammu and Kashmir home department had on banned 22 social media sites and applications, including Facebook, Whats App and Twitter, in an attempt to curb street protests in the Valley.
However, the ban had little effect as users accessed the banned sites through virtual private networks.
