US TRAVEL BAN: GOVT TO MOVE SC
A federal appeals court refused to vacate the block on Trump’s second attempt at banning travel of people from some Muslimmajority countries to the US, saying it discriminated on the basis of religion. The government said it will go to Supreme Court against the ruling.
The Thursday order from the fourth circuit court of appeal will have countrywide effect unless overtaken by another appeals court or a superior court.
For now, the executive order Trump had issued in March remains stayed and inoperable. It was to affect travellers from Syria, Yemen, Iran, Sudan, Somalia and Libya (Iraq was dropped) for an initial period of six months.
