Hooda slams BJP govt over women safety, ‘cow politics’
ROHTAK:: Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday lambasted the BJP government for poor law and order in the state.
Talking about the recent incidents of school girls starting protests to seek upgrade of their village schools across Haryana, Hooda said the real reason behind the protest was molestation.
“They want upgrade. But they are compelled to protest for it because they fear molestation on the way to schools. The law and order in Haryana is in shambles under the BJP government. There are reports of rapes and molestation from every corner of the state,” Hooda said while addressing a press conference at his residence here.
The former CM also attacked the BJP for doing politics in the name of cow. He said cow slaughter was banned in Haryana before the BJP was elected, but the saffron party has tried to portray that they are the real cowsavers.
“I am a real gau bhakt. But I have never indulged in politics in the name of cow. It is only for pretentious politicians,” he said, adding that his party suspended workers who slaughtered cow in Kerala to oppose the recent ban.
On being asked about the irregularities in land deals during his regime for which he was being grilled by the ED and CBI, Hooda said he had done no wrong. “Investigation should happen. I had myself asked for it. But the government is wasting its time in political vendetta rather than utilising this time in doing some work,” he said.
He said the BJP government has totally failed in their threeyear rule so far. “Basmati prices have halved, paddy is not procured on MSP.There has been loot in the name of Fasal Bima Yojana. Farmers are extremely disappointed with the BJP and are eagerly waiting to vote them out of the state,” he claimed.
