All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday said the Narendra Modi government at the Centre believes only in ‘vigyapan’ (propaganda)) and ‘vibhajan’ (polarisation).

Flaying the BJP-led NDA government on its three-year rule, Gogoi said it had failed on all fronts, making life difficult for people of all strata.

He alleged that the government had been fooling people with advertisements and winning polls by polarising voters by dividing different sections of society. He said the Modi government had ruined the economy of the country, bringing down the gross domestic product (GDP) by 0.7 points from 6.9 during the Congress rule in 2014.

He said while farmers were being killed by police, the traders were hit by the market uncertainty and youths were still waiting for employment generation.

Gogoi, son of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, said the BJP government in Haryana had also brought only lawlessness in the state.

Asked to comment on the Manohar Lal Khattar government’s claims about foreign investments in Haryana, he said these were only a bunch of lies as nothing was visible on the ground.

“While Khattar and several of his ministers are flying abroad frequently, his promise for an international airport in Haryana seems to be only a hollow promise,” he said.

Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar said the party would start a week-long protest in the state on June 18 against what he termed as the misrule of the BJP government.

He also slammed the government for the increasing cases of crime against women, plight of farmers and inadequate and irregular supply of power and water.
