: The family members of a man killed in a violent clash in a Bhiwani village have threatened to self-immolate themselves if the accused were not arrested and brought to justice within 24 hours.

Sitting on a dharna outside the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Civil Hospital, the family refused to accept the victim’s body for cremation on fourth day as well. The incident had occurred at Badesara village of Bhiwani district on July 8, when two groups had clashed with each other over sarpanch elections rivalry, killing one Baljeet on spot and injuring five others.

The police had registered a case against 54 people by name in the case. However, they have managed to arrest only three accused so far.

The family said the police were not working properly as they are not carrying raids to make arrests despite having information about the hideouts of the accused.

“If the police had acted in time, this would not have happened. In the past two years, we have been attacked 10 times. But the police did not take any action on our complaint,” said Vikas, the son of the deceased man. The number of those at the dharna has been increasing everyday. The efforts of senior police officials to end the dharna by giving them assurance of arrests have failed.
