Boulders damage Hanogi Mata Temple after landslip; cloudburst near Rampur; two teens drown in Beas river

Heavy rains lashed the hill state of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday and resulted in a serious of destructiv­e incidents.

HANOGI TEMPLE PARTIALLY DAMAGED

Hanogi Mata Temple, located on Chandigarh-Manali National Highway-21 in Mandi district was partially damaged on Sunday by a boulder.

Around 30 kilometers from Mandi town, the temple was hit by mound of boulders in the wee hours of Sunday.

A canteen run by the temple authoritie­s and a Horticultu­re Produce Marketing and Processing Corporatio­n (HPMC) juice bar was also damaged in the landslide.

One boulder hit the temple main gate, second hit the canteen and the third destroyed HPMC juice bar room.

Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Mandi Sadar, Pooja Chauhan said no one was injured in the incident. Following the landslide, the highway remained close for over one and half hour.

Meanwhile, Temple Trust senior clerk Sandeep Sharma said temple property worth approximat­ely ₹10 lakh was damaged by the boulders.

Eye witnesses said there were 20 people present at the site and as they witnessed debris along with water flowing down the hill, they raised an alarm and all escaped unhurt.

FLASHFLOOD IN RAMPUR: BRIDGES, ROADS WASHED AWAY

The torrential monsoon downpour in last 24 hours has wrecked havoc in parts of Himachal Pradesh. A flashflood triggered by heavy rains damaged roads and bridges and private property in Ganvi village of Rampur tehsil in Shimla district.

The flashflood also caused damage in the adjoining Mangal and Fancha bazaar as mud flowed into the shops and residentia­l areas.

Officials at Rampur said that people have been told to be alert and loss is being assessed.

TWO STUDENTS DROWN IN KULLU

Meanwhile, another incident of rain disaster came to light in which, two Class 6 students were feared dead as they were washed away in gushing water of Beas river in Kullu on Sunday.

The victims have been identified as Ranjan Kumar, 12, of Tindi village in Lahaul-Spiti district and Ashish, 13, from Bashing village in Kullu.

The incident took place on Saturday evening.

They reportedly had gone to take a dip in the river with their friends.

The police have launched search operation to trace the bodies of the missing students.
