Tarn Taran clash: Victim’s kin say he was not SAD worker

Two days after a youth was killed in a clash between two groups at Kamboke village in the district, a video has surfaced on the social media wherein his family members claim that he was not a worker of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) as claimed by former Akali MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha.

“We have been working with the Congress for the past 50 years and Valtoha is just trying to gain political mileage (by making such claim),” said Karaj Singh, uncle of deceased Sukhbir Singh, in a video that went viral on Facebook on Saturday.

“Valtoha should not play politics in the matter,” said another family member of the deceased in the video.

Soon after the clash on Thursday, Valtoha had posted messages on various WhatsApp groups, claiming that a Congress man had shot dead a “SAD worker”.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Bhullar has criticised Valtoha for giving political colour to a clash over land dispute.
