AMRITSAR: Jalandhar-born Canadian member of Parliament (MP) from Brampton Centre, Canada, Rameshwar Singh Sangha, on Sunday, made it clear that Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s statement on radicals in Canada is his personal view. He was interacting with the media during his visit to the holy city.

During the interaction, he had to face queries regarding his meeting with the chief minster on Friday during which the latter raised the issue of the influence of Sikh radicals in Canada and wanted them to be reined in.

“These are his (Amarinder Singh’s) personal views and I would not comment on them. You can ask him and you should do so,” said the Canadian MP while replying to a query.

However, he expressed pleasure over the response given by the chief minster on various issues related to the Indo-Canadian ties. He said the chief minister as well as other authorities have assured him to cooperate in the field of trade, industry, science and technology etc.

Talking about the immigration system of Canada, Sangha said the immigration policies of Canada are changing and going thereby adopting illegal ways would no longer remain easy and there is zero tolerance for those who go to Canada fraudulently.

He added that the Canadian authorities would scrutinise first before giving anyone shelter in the country.

He also paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.
