KARNAL: A newborn girl was found abandoned near a shelter house in Sector 6 of Karnal on Sunday.

According to the caretakers of the MDD Bal Bhawan, the baby is only two-day old and someone had left her on Phoosgarh road. They said the baby’s medical examination was conducted and she was healthy.

Now the baby will be sent to the adoption centre. People have already started visiting to the Bal Bhavan to adopt the baby. The management of the Bal Bhavan has already applied for her Aadhaar Card.

“The parents of the baby had left her in the Palna Ghar outside the Bal Bavan, around 7:30 pm on Saturday. We have installed a device in the Palna Ghar and got information about the baby . We sent her for the medical” chief functionary of the MDD Bal Bhawan, PR Nath told HT.

“We have already informed the child welfare committee and now the baby will be sent to adoption centre as per the directions of child welfare committee”, he added. In 2014 the state government had issued directions for setting up of the Palna Ghar at the Bal Bhavan, where parents can leave their unwanted babies.

Nath said that since the setting up of the Palna Ghar in November 2014, people have left 7 children here including 5 girls. He said there is no provision for action against such parents as the step was taken to avoid the killing of the unwanted babies.
