Hold assembly session on farming, telecast live: AAP

-

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and leader of opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira has demanded a special assembly session to discuss the issues related to farm crisis in Punjab.

AAP MP and state unit chief Bhagwant Mann and Khaira addressed party workers in Mansa on Thursday. “I am writing to the chief minister for a special session to address the farm crisis,” Khaira said. “We want a three-day televised session. Every MLA be allowed to speak. CM should declare an agrarian emergency.” Khaira said they will also demand a one-time settlement of farm debt. He claimed, “Farmers have mentioned Capt Amarinder Singh in suicide notes.”

DIG AT AKALI ‘LEHAR’

Earlier, in Patiala, Khaira took a dig at Shiromani Akali Dal’s move of launching a ‘zabar virodhi lehar’ (drive against injustice) against the ruling party for allegedly registering false cases against party workers. He said former CM Parkash Singh Badal and his former deputy SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal “should rather apologise at the Akal Takht for atrocities they committed on people”.

‘PROBE AN EYEWASH’

At Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district, Khaira said the Justice JS Narang (retd) commission formed by CM Amarinder to investigate minister Rana Gurjit Singh in an alleged scam in allotment of sand mines is “a clean chit commission”.

He added that Narang’s son had been legal counsel for Rana Gurjit’s companies.

‘NEED NO OUTSIDERS’

In Mansa, Mann, when asked about restructuring the state unit, said, “We don't need the previous model wherein people from Delhi were appointed as observers and in-charges.”
