Historysheeter shot dead in Hisar, old enmity suspected
40yearold’s mother, friend seriously injured as two assailants open fire
: A 40-year-old historysheeter died on the spot while two others were seriously injured after two unidentified men opened fire outside his house in the Urban Estate area of Hisar town on Saturday night.
The deceased, identified as Pradeep Jamawari who faced charges of murder and dacoity, received one bullet on his head and another on chest. While his mother Savitri Devi sustained bullet injury on her chest, his friend Chanderjeet alias Chintu received bullet splinters. Some cases were pending against Pradeep, it was learnt.
The incident took place at 11pm, police said, adding that a total of 11 cartridge shells were recovered from the spot. The police said the assailants were carrying a pistol and a 12 bore rifle. The police took the victim’s body in their custody and sent it for post-mortem examination to the local general hospital in Hisar.
Civil lines station house officer (SHO) Mandeep Sangwan said, “Prima facie, it seems be a case old enmity as Pradeep was faced several criminal cases.”
"The injured are undergoing treatment. We came to know that Pradeep's business partner Kala had came to meet him. When Kala was going home, two unidentified persons emerged from a nearby park and opened fire. We have procured CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage from near the house. We will arrest the accused soon," the SHO said. Kala has been absconding since, the police said, raising suspicion on his possible role in the conspiracy.
A case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act has been registered against unidentified persons. The police said they have started investigation into the matter.
