Committed to ensure 24x7 power supply in state: CM

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said the state government was working to ensure uninterrup­ted power supply in the entire state.

The CM was in Karnal where he laid the foundation stones of two 33kV sub-stations at Rs 8 crore. He said to boost electricit­y supply, several sub-power stations are being set up in the state, adding that steps are being taken to boost power infrastruc­ture.

He said the capacity of the main 220kV power station on Kunjpura Road had been increased to bring relief from power cuts. Later, addressing a gathering at Chaupal, he said the state government had started several schemes for the welfare of the poor and backward communitie­s.

The CM also handed over keys of 71 e-rikshaws to needy women and interest free loans to the 271 women to start small businesses. He also donated his one month’s salary to the Swadeshi Jagran Manch appreciati­ng its efforts to help the needy .

Later, he inaugurate­d the solar-run micro irrigation pilot project under the Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojna in Gumthala Garhu Dera Fateh Singh village in Pehowa of Kurukshetr­a district. Costing Rs 24.65 crore, it will be country’s first-of-its-kind project which will draw energy from solar power and the grid and will be connected to the nearest 11kV line through hotline to ensure uninterrup­ted power supply.

He said such projects will be introduced in 36 “dark zones” of the state. The chief minister also laid foundation stone of Golden Jubilee Brahamsaro­var community reserve at Thana village of the district.
