A day after two boys drowned in the Chandu Budhera canal while out swimming with friends, two men were consumed by the waters around 5.30 pm.

The two men, Suresh and Narender, were swimming on Saturday evening with a friend when the incident took place.

While the body of 37-year-old Narender, a resident of Rajender Park, was found around 10pm on Saturday night itself, the body of 28-year-old Suresh, a resident of Surat Nagar, was fished out on Sunday morning.

“We received a PCR call that two more persons had drowned in the canal in the evening. A rescue team started searching for them from 5.30pm on Saturday,” Pavitra Kumar, assistant sub inspector of Rajender Park police station and the investigating officer in the case, said.

The police said that the two drowned while swimming in the canal near Dhankot.

Both Suresh and Narender were single and unemployed, the police said. Sources, however, said that Narender was a small time architect who was trying to launch his own business, while Suresh was an engineer.

Their parents couldn’t be reached for comments.

The bodies were sent for post mortem examination and were later handed over to their families.

On Saturday afternoon, two boys, both aged 16, drowned in the canal while out swimming with two-three friends. The victims were identified as Sandeep and Shivam.
