CONSTABLE WHO FLASHED WOMAN COLLEAGUE DISMISSED

-

Delhi police constable who had allegedly flashed a woman officer at the police training college has been dismissed from service. Sources said that cop was dismissed by police commissioner Amulya Patnaik.

The constable was arrested last Thursday and let off on bail. He was suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered on Wednesday after the principal of the police training college learnt about the incident on Tuesday.

The constable had allegedly touched two women inappropriately in the hostel mess at the college in Jharoda Kalan.

The incident took place on July 22 evening, when the two women were having dinner. The cop, who joined the force in 2006, allegedly touched their hands without their consent, following which they threatened to inform their superiors. He reportedly apologized, following which the matter was settled.

An hour later, women officers informed the police control room, alleging that they had seen the cop without any clothes flashing atop a terrace.

While one of the women officers was a senior hostel warder, the other two were trainees who expressed their displeasure at seeing their male colleague who appeared to be drunk. “The women will give their statement to the officer who is probing the FIR,” said an officer.

Principal PTC Parmadiyta was not available for any comments despite repeated calls, a text and a whatsapp message.

This was the second such incident reported in the national capital last week. A man who worked as a driver had flashed and made lewd gesture at a JNU student in south east Delhi’s GK1. In Mumbai, the video clip of a man flashing inside the local train had gone viral on social media last week. . HTC
