Chandigarh University students prove mettle at International & National Level Technical Events
The students of Chandigarh University, Gharuan, have once again proven their mettle at international and national-level technical events organized jointly by the International Research Agencies and Corporates. A team comprising second year computer science engineering students from the institute bagged the third position in the world.
Similarly, during the annual CCED-2017 (Chemists Celebrate Earth Day) celebrations, one of the institute’s students bagged the first position (in India) in the Animated Short Film category. It was organized by the American Chemical Society (ACS), USA. The event sees teams from all over the world take part in the various categories of events pertaining to highlighting the contribution of chemistry towards world’s development.
The CU team comprising Sahil Bansal, Naveen Kumar, Kanchan Yadav, Dhruv Sharma and Abhishek Singh directed and produced an animated short film based on the theme: How Chemistry Helps Feed the World. “We showcased how fertilizers and pesticides developed on the basis of modern day chemistry have helped farmers all over the world to make their respective nations self-sufficient in agriculture,” said Sahil Bansal, who conceived the idea behind the short film.
In yet another achievement, the student team ‘Nucleon’ bagged the Special Jury Award by winning the first position in North India at Codeathon iTech-2017, organized by ITC Infotech for developing the Best Social Chat Messenger based on Progressive Web Application Technology. The team, comprising second year computer application students from CU - Akshpreet Sharma, Prateek Kumar and Jatin Chauhan developed a chat messenger platform and won the Best Designed Web Application with minimum space requirement. More than 45,000 teams from universities and IT companies participated in the first round of Codeathon iTech-2017. It was held at ITC Infotech Campus in Bengaluru.
