Met dept predicts rain in east, west Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Many parts of Jaipur witnessed good rains on Friday as it started raining at 6am and continued throughout the day in the form of drizzle.

According to the water resources department, Jaipur received 55.7mm and Sanganer received 89mm of rain between 5.30pm on Thursday and 8.30am on Friday.

The other places to receive the rainfall were Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittorgar­h, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Karauli, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Sirohi Tonk and Udaipur.

The whole of Rajasthan has received 440.30mm of rainfall between June 1 and August 25, which is 6.25% above the normal rainfall.

The state had witnessed 642.43mm of rain last year.

The meteorolog­ical department has predicted rain at many places in East Rajasthan and at few other places in West Rajasthan.

The weather office has also issued a warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state in the next 24 hours.

As per the water resources department, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Pali and Sirohi fall in abnormal category, while Jodhpur, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh and Rajsamand fall in excess category.

Bikaner, Churu, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Nagaur, Tonk, Jhalawar, Banswara and Chittorgar­h are in normal category and the remaining 14 districts including Jaipur are in deficit category.
