IT SAID THE GOVT CAN TAKE HELP OF IIT MADRAS FOR REMOVING LINKS FROM THE NET AND OTHER SOURCES.

On a day when reports came in of a youngster committing suicide by jumping before a train, the Madras High Court directed the centre and Tamil Nadu government to find ways and means to ban the dangerous game of Blue Whale.

Justic KK Sasidharan and Justice GR Swaminathan of the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, taking up suo moto notice of suicide by two youngsters last week in Chennai and Puducherry, issued notices to the union I&B secretary and TN Home secretary and IT department with a directive that an urgent solution be found to save children falling prey to the deadly game.

For technical inputs on how to block the game and remove all links from the Net and other sources, the court suggested the government that it can take the help of IIT Madras for ideas.

The state government told the court that after Vighnesh of Madurai committed suicide, it was detected that she shared the game with 75 others. All those 75 students have been saved, the TN government counsel submitted to the court.

The court directed the state police chief and home secretary to issue a strict warning to anyone who shared the dangerous online game. A local advocate Krishnamurthy had appealed to the court to direct the central government to ban such dangerous games on September 1, a day after Vighnesh had committed suicide.

The Madurai college student had said in a suicide note that the game was a devastating one.
