FATHER HELD FOR ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT ON DAUGHTER

In the second incident of its kind in the last one week, a man was arrested for alleged sexual assault on his minor daughter in Laxman Vihar colony near the Gurgaon railway station. The accused was booked for allegedly assaulting his 13-year old daughter under Section 8 of Pocso Act and was arrested on Monday, said police.

A case has been registered at Sector 9-A police station against the accused, who originally belongs to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. Last week, a man was arrested by Bajghera police station, who had been allegedly raping his daughter for the last seven years. It was only after the girl revealed about the abuse to her friend after learning about ‘Good touch, Bad touch’ at school that the matter came to light and the accused was arrested after the intervention of an NGO.

The minor alleged that in the wee hours of Wednesday (August 29), her father assaulted her. The case was filed on September 3.

According to the police, the minor lives with her father and step mother in a rented accommodation at Laxman Vihar. Her mother died a few years ago. A police officer said that the matter is being probed and the accused will be arrested soon. Pratibha Deepak Maheshwari, a Jaipur based activist, ensured that the matter was taken into cognizance by authorities, which led to action against the father.
