An eight-year-old boy was found dead in bushes near the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) here on Sunday evening with most of his lower body parts mutilated by stray dogs.

The deceased boy hails from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and his family has been living in Rohtak’s Vijay Colony for the past 12 years and working as daily wagers.

The police said the body of the boy was found without his pants, raising suspicion that he could have been sodomised before being left to die in bushes.

The post-mortem of the boy was conducted on Monday, which did not give a clear picture on how he could have died. A board of doctors will further investigate into the matter to ascertain the cause of death. The report, however, ruled out strangulation.

The police said the body parts below the stomach were eaten by stray dogs and one of his feet was detached and missing.

The cops said the boy was playing in his colony on Saturday evening after coming back from school. However, he did not return home that night. The worried family informed the police and registered a missing complaint. A day later, his dead body was found in bushes, three km away from his colony.

Shivaji Colony SHO Naveen Jakhar said the police have got CCTV footages from eight spots in the area which they will be examining to solve the case. He said the police were not ruling out any possibility as of now.
