Faridabad killings: Police hunting for accused Ggn cop

FARIDABAD: The special investigat­ing team (SIT) constitute­d to investigat­e murder of five people in Faridabad’s Palwali village has launched a manhunt in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi for an absconding assistant sub inspector of Haryana Police. Police also conducted raids at different places in Faridabad to trace other accused and also the weapons used in the killings.

“We are on the lookout for ASI Pramod Kumar and we are hopeful of nabbing him any time soon,” said SIT head ACP Aman Yadav.

Five persons of two families were killed and six others were critically injured in a clash over panchayat poll-related issues in Palwali village in district Faridabad late on Sunday night. Village sarpanch Dayawati and her husband, Billi, is alleged to have led the attackers.

Some villagers told HT they fear for their lives as the killers had warned them that survivors would also be targeted. “Since we are witness in this case, wherever we go, some vehicles follow us. I doubt the relatives of the accused family who too are influentia­l are keeping track of our movement”, Lalit Kumar who had got injured in the attack told HT.

Lalit Kumar’s father, Rajinder Prasad was one of the five persons killed late on Sunday.

Other villagers alleged that government has deployed huge security outside the houses of the accused persons while their houses remain vulnerable. DCP Central Bhupinder Singh said police have now provided security to witnesses in the case.

Police produced three more accused before the court which remanded them to one day police custody.
