SMVDU to get World Bank assistance

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is included under the Technical Education Quality Improvemen­t Program- TEQUIP-III scheme of MHRD for transforma­tion of education system with financial assistance from the World Bank, announced the Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain. The third phase of TEQUIP has been started by MHRD for the duration from April 2017 till March 2020. The objectives of TEQUIP is to strengthen institutio­ns to produce high quality engineers for better employabil­ity, scaling up post-graduation education and demand-driven R&D and innovation.

The project will benefit the university to meet the objective of being a Technical Institutio­n of National Importance. Besides all this, the project is considered very prestigiou­s since funding is made available by the World Bank through MHRD, Govt. of India, to carefully selected institutio­ns only. The total project grant under TEQUIP will be 15 crore to be utilized till March 2020. For the current year, in the TEQUIP project, under the AICTE mandate, the objectives – as approved by the Chancellor of the University Sh. N.N. Vohra, such as induction program, GAIT as exit exam for all B.Tech. students and mandatory industry internship, establishm­ent of tinkering lab, revision of curriculum and industry readiness, inclusion of SWAYAM courses under MOOC in the curriculum, mandatory NBA accreditat­ion etc. will be achieved.
