New devp projects will be started from Oct 21: Navjot Sidhu
THE LOCAL BODIES MINISTER SAYS HIS NEXT TARGET IS ENCROACHMENTS
AMRITSAR: Local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu visited the Bhandari Bridge to inspect the construction work of a railway overbridge under the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) project. “The overbridge will be operational within three months,” Sidhu announced.
Sidhu said that all other overbridges that have been planned in the key areas of the city, to end the traffic woes, will be operational in the next two years.
“After October 21, I will start inaugurating many development projects for the city. We will not drag discussions of the failed projects of the previous SAD-BJP (Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party) government. We would rather work on the overall development of Punjab,” the minister said.
Sidhu added that his next target is to remove the illegal encroachments from across the city. The minister visited Jahajgarh with police commissioner SS Srivastava and deputy commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha to check the encroachments in the area.
Sidhu has directed the officials to get the encroachments removed from the green belts in Amritsar.
He added that they have made plans of many development projects, including the BRTS and traffic regulation project, Upper Bari Doab Canal (UBDC) project, Chali Khoo project, and more.
“Money has been allotted and tenders will be opened on October 18. The development works, worth ₹15 crore, will start in my constituency by October 21. It is going to be a happy Diwali for Amritsar residents. I will spend most of my time in the city, ensuring proper implementation of the development plans,” said Sidhu.
