Gill panel indicts Langah for false case
: The third interim report of the commission headed by justice Mehtab Singh Gill (retd) to look into the allegations of false cases against political adversaries during the SAD-BJP regime has recommended action against former Akali minister Sucha Singh Langah, along with erring investigating officer (IO), SHO Satpal, in one of the 20 cases, which it has identified as false.
The commission has recommended legal action against Langah and compensation for victim, Sandeep Kumar, to be recovered from the erring IO, who filed a case against him under the NDPS Act at Dera Baba Nanak police station. The commission has further recommended that Langah be booked under section 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code for conspiring with the IO to falsely implicate the complainant’s son.
The third interim report has been submitted to the chief minister’s office for further action.
The commission, which has dismissed 81 complaints on various grounds, in this round of its investigation has also suggested cancellation of FIR against Lok Insaaf Party leader and MLA Simarjit Singh Bains.
The third interim report, relating to 101 cases received by the panel, has recommended cancellation of FIRs in 12 cases.
Five of these cancellations were made after taking appropriate orders from the courts. HTC
