BSF jawan’s wife found murdered in Dinanagar

GURDASPUR: BSF jawan Subash Chander’s wife Anju Bala ,37, was found murdered at her Krishna Enclave residence on Daburji Road in Dinanagar on Wednesday.

The murder came to light when her two sons Rohin Kumar and Arun Kumar studying in Class-7 and 9 respective­ly arrived home at about 3 pm after attending school.

The children found their mother lying in pool of blood and raised hue and cry for help.

Hearing the noise, the neighbours came rushing to the house and took the victim to a hospital.

Gurdaspur senior superinten­dent of police HS Bhullar said, “When the children reached home, their mother was still breathing.”

“Finding her in a critical condition, the neighbours took her in a car to the Amritsar Government Hospital. But she succumbed to her wounds on the way to the hospital,” the SSP said.

As per preliminar­y investigat­ion, nothing has been stolen from the house, said the police. Bhullar said, “There were six to seven deep injury marks on her body. The victim has been attacked with a knife.”

The police sent the body to the civil hospital in Gurdaspur for post-mortem. Meanwhile, a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Dinanagar police station.

The SSP said, a team of forensic experts has been called to ascertain the cause behind the murder and trace the alleged killer.

The deceased’s husband,48, was home on leave recently and had returned for duty in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday only.
