Youth, family booked for abduction, rape of minor girl

SULTANPUR LODHI: A 21-year-old man and his family have been booked on charges of abduction and rape of a minor girl in Sultanpur Lodhi here on Monday. Accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, his mother Paramjeet Kaur, father Gurcharan Singh and sister Kulbir Kaur, who lives at Fatehpur village, in Jalandhar district.

As per police, when victim was alone at her house on Sunday, accused called her out. With the help of his family, he forcibly took the victim to his house where he raped her in a locked room.

Sultanpur Lodhi women cell in-charge Manjit Kaur said on complaint of the 17-year-old victim, the four were booked, but are on the run. As per complainant, she was abducted and raped by Gurpreet. She said that his family was present in the house when he committed the crime. A case has been registered under Section 363 (kidnapping), 366A (procuration of minor girl), 376 (rape) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
