ROHTAK: Unidentified miscreants pumped six bullets into a coaching centre owner, Virender Singh, 35, in Rohtak’s posh DLF colony on Monday night. The murder happened near Haryana cooperation minister Manish Grover’s house, raising a question mark over safety of residents.

Virender, a resident of Khadothi village in Rohtak, was staying with his wife and kids in Bhiwani and ran a coaching institute for English and skill development by name of PS Education in Rohtak’s DLF colony.

The police said Virender had gone to see-off his friend to the end of the street from his institute on Monday night when some carborne miscreants open fired at him and fled the spot. He was rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) where doctors pronounced him dead during treatment.

Virender’s father Balbir Singh said he had an ongoing monetary dispute with Bharat Colony resident Rahul, over which he had recently filed a police complaint against Rahul at the Civil Lines police station. Balbir said he suspected Rahul’s hand behind the incident.

On Balbir’s complaint, the police have booked Rahul under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code and sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. No arrest had been made till the filing of this report.
