UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM

-

Apropos the news report, ‘19 posts of peons, sweepers: Techie, postgrads on 9,500 applicants’ list’ (HT, Nov 14), one of the major problems the country faces is unemployment. However, the automation of works has complicated the unemployment problem in India. The highly sophisticated machineries are run by skilled and trained people. It is government’s responsibility to provide work to people. But the number of the unemployed persons in the country is increasing at an alarming rate. The employment problem among educated youth is a serious one. For every vacancy, there are dozens of applicants. Vijayata Sharma,
