Landowners, oustees unite against Huda
LANDOWNERS WORRIED AS HUDA HAS NOT COMPENSATED THEM WITH ALTERNATE PLOTS, RESIDENTIAL OR COMMERCIAL
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) may find it difficult to get land for the Dwarka Expressway, officially known as Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), as the oustees joined hands with the land owners of Sector 110-A— where Huda planned their resettlement—to fight against the development agency on Monday.
The oustees and the land owners held a meeting at Sector 110-A, where both parties exchanged their grievances against the Huda and the Haryana government.
The land owners are worried as Huda has not compensated them with alternate plots, residential or commercial.
The oustees are worried because the agency is forcing them to construct new houses at alternate plots and vacate their homes built on land needed for the NPR.
The development agency has not laid sewer, water or electricity lines in Sector 110-A, but has told them to vacate land for NPR before March 2018.
So far, Huda has allotted alternate plots to 200 of the 750 oustees at Sector 110-A, and is forcing them to shift at the earliest. Some 25-30 oustees have begun constructing new houses fearing Huda may demolish their homes for NPR. Huda has notified acquisition of 30 acres of land at Sector 110-A. Of the 30 acres, 18 belong to a single family, which is fighting a legal battle to get their land back, and the remaining 12 acres have been acquired from different individuals.
Addressing oustees, Lieutenant General (retd) Ramesh Kumar Rana, whose 18 acres was acquired, said, “Some of you have constructed houses on my land and you know that there are no basic amenities there. Like you, I also fear that Huda acquired our land forcibly and allowed you to resettle and has given us nothing so I am losing my paternal property for no good cause. Let us fight together, this is my appeal to you.”
Former MCG councillor of the area Rishi Raj Rana said no new construction will take place at Sector 110-A from now. “I, on behalf of the oustees, assure that unless Huda lays basic amenities, removes high tension wires, no oustees will shift. If needed, we will protest together against Huda. We will write to the government to resolve the issue.”
