Gangster’s ‘widow’ fights for acceptance
Amandeep Kaur aka Avreen, who claims to be the wife of slain gangster Prabhdeep Singh, has alleged that her in-laws are not accepting her as Prabhdeep’s wife. She says that this is despite both having solemnised their marriage at a gurdwara in Abohar, in the presence of her in-laws.
She said that she had married Prabhdeep on November 16, 2015. She produced photographs of their marriage and the marriage certificate issued by the gurdwara. Amandeep claimed that her in-laws cremated her husband in her absence.
She said that they will not allow her to attend his bhog ceremony, which is on December 24. She said that Prabhdeep was not a gangster. “He faced only one case of theft and was planning to surrender,” she said.
She met with inspector general of police (IG, Bathinda zone) Mukwhinder Singh Chhina in this regard but as she has produced photos of marriage, concerned police officials have been asked to allow her to attend bhog.

Two gangsters, Manpreet Singh Manna and Prabhdeep Singh, were killed. While three including injured Amritpal Singh, Harwinder Singh alias Bhinda and Gurwinder Singh alias Ginda were arrested after an encounter with police at Gulabgarh village here on Friday last week.
The five were in a Mahindra Scorpio car, and had snatched a Toyota Fortuner car at gunpoint in Bhucho Mandi.
