Triple murder: SIT constituted on CM’s orders to probe case
Cops fail to get time for polygraph tests on kids’ father, accused Jagdeep’s wife
A month after police failed to solve the case involving the murder of three Kurukshetra siblings in Panchkula’s Morni forest area, a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter on chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s instructions.
The Kurukshetra police had arrested the victims’ uncle Jagdeep Malik for committing the crime. Jagdeep had led the police and villagers to the crime spot where the bodies of Sameer (11), Simran (8) and Samar (4) were found on November 21 two days after they went missing.
The SIT will carry the probe under the supervision of inspector general of police (Karnal range) Subhash Yadav with Karnal superintendent of police Jashandeep Randhawa leading it.
The development comes after the children’s Suman Malik, family members along with residents of Sarsa village had expressed dissatisfaction with the Kurukshetra police probe and recently took up the issue with the CM in Chandigarh.
The CM had assured them to give one month’s time to the state police saying the case will be handed over to the CBI if the SIT failed to crack the case.
“We have started investigation afresh. Officials have been asked to probe the matter from different angles,” IGP Yadav said. Whether they have set a deadline, he said, “There is no deadline as such. We are recording the statements of all the stakeholders.”
The villagers said the police may take more time as they have not got time for polygraph test of the children’s father Sonu Malik and Jagdeep’s wife Reena Malik.
“We have requested for the polygraph tests but did not get the time for it yet,” Karnal SP Jashandeep Randhawa said.
The victims’ family and villagers said they may meet the chief minister again if the investigation was not concluded in the given time.
“The SIT recorded the family members’ statements recently,” Sarsa village sarpanch Karambir Singh said.
