Auto hits stationary truck in Tarn Taran; 2 killed, 4 injured

ALL THE PASSENGERS OF AUTO WERE RETURNING FROM AMRITSAR TO CHABHAL WHEN THE MISHAP TOOK PLACE

: Two persons were killed and four injured after an auto rickshaw (three-wheeler), in which they were travelling, hit a parked truck (PB02 C 9395) from behind on the Amritsar road near Chabhal Adda, 20 km from the district headquarte­rs, early Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Amarjit Singh and Manjit Singh alias Mahna of Chabhal while auto driver Gurpreet Singh, Nishan Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Gurcharan Singh of Chabhal were injured in the collision.

All the passengers of the auto were reportedly coming back from Amritsar to Chabhal after doing their night duties there.

The auto caught fire after the accident. Some passersby pulled out the injured from the threewheel­er and rushed the injured to the civil hospital here.

Two of them died after reaching the hospital.

ASI Gursahib Singh reached the spot with a police party and visited the hospital. He sent bodies to Tarn Taran civil hospital for postmortem.

A case under Sections 304 A (causing death by negligence), 283 (danger or obstructio­n in public way or line of navigation), 337 (causing hurt by act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangerin­g life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the IPC has been registered against the truck driver, who has been taken into custody.”
