Threatening to relaunch the quota stir if its demands are not met with, the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Friday announced to observe February 18 as sacrifice day (balidan divas) to commemorate members of the community who lost their lives during the protests.

Addressing mediapersons here, Malik said the AIJASS will hold rallies in Jat-dominated districts of 15 states on February 18 in the memory of 29 members of the community who lost their lives during the agitation held from 2010 till 2017.

“On February 18, the AIJASS will announce its agitation plan if our demands are not met with,’’ he said. Earlier, a Malikled AIJASS delegation submitted a memorandum to the Haryana Backward Classes Commission (HBCC) chairman for inclusion of the Jat community in other backward classes (OBC) category in the state.

The AIJASS chief said it was noticed that caste-based statistics submitted to HBCC by the state government did not give a clear picture of the jobs given to Jats and other castes.

He accused the Haryana government of “casteist conspiracy” to vitiate social fabric of the state. He claimed that there had not been even a single incident of violence or damage to property in the protests led by AIJASS since 2010 and violence took place because of the state government.

THE JAT BODY SAYS IT WILL ANNOUNCE ITS AGITATION PLAN ON FEBRUARY 18 WHEN RALLIES IN 15 STATES WILL BE HELD
