Extend full assistance to reforms body: Govt to DCs
Taking a serious note of the alleged apathy of deputy commissioners to the Haryana Governance Reforms Authority (HGRA), the state government on Friday shot off a communication to the district administration heads asking them to extend full cooperation to reforms body officials.
Set up in January, the Haryana Governance Reforms Authority is headed by Pramod Kumar, director, Institute for Development and Communication. Its members include former Haryana chief secretary PK Chaudhery and former high court judge BB Parsoon. The authority largely remained nonfunctional for most part of the year due to lack of facilities and poor co-ordination.
Principal secretary (administrative reforms) TC Gupta in a communication to the DCs on Friday said it has been brought to their notice that due attention was not paid by the them when a member visited a district.
“It seems that some deputy commissioners are not aware of the status, importance, roles and responsibilities of the HGRA and associated task groups,’’ he said.
Gupta said the state government attached great importance to the work entrusted to the Haryana Governance Reforms Authority which has been set up to bring about important changes in governance to enhance the quality and ease of access of all citizens to various development programs, services and schemes of the state government and to make the delivery of services harassment and corruption free.
The deputy commissioners are, therefore, requested to extend full cooperation, including providing information to the chairpersons and members of task groups on their visit to districts.
