31 AUGUST

Seven-year-old Adya Singh admitted to Fortis PICU with Dengue Shock Syndrome. She was suffering from Acute Respirator­y Distress Syndrome and Multi-Organ Dysfunctio­n Syndrome

She remained on life support for the next 15 days

12 SEPTEMBER

A committee of doctors told Adya’s parents that her condition was critical

13 SEPTEMBER

Adya’s father refused to clear the bills until the doctors had done an MRI, following which the scan was carried out and it revealed that the brain was 70 to 80 per cent damaged

14 SEPTEMBER

Adya’s parents took her case files to Medanta hospital in Gurgaon where Fortis’ prognosis was reiterated

15 SEPTEMBER

At 2 am, Jayant Singh signed a form confirming that he was taking his daughter home “against medical advice”

Around 6am Adya was transferre­d to an ambulance, where, according to her parents, “the doctor removed the ventilator­s and the pipe, waited for 2-3 minutes, and pronounced the baby dead”

The family proceeded towards Rockland Hospital where they procured a certificat­e pronouncin­g her “brought dead” and then took the body of their daughter home

16 OCTOBER

Haryana’s health minister Anil Vij called a press conference and declared that “in simple words, it was not a death, it was a murder.” He also ordered the removal of Fortis from state government’s list of hospitals

The civil surgeon of Gurgaon filed an FIR against Fortis Gurgaon at a local police station
