Bhola’s counsel said besides Bhola, Kewal Krishan and Mahesh Kumar of Jalandhar were accused in one case while Gurpal Singh, Joginder Singh and Dheera Singh were accused in the second case. In both cases. Bhola was acquitted while the rest of the accused were sentenced to 10-year imprisonment in July 2005.

The court had directed to initiate separate proceedings under Section 58 of the NDPS Act against then DSP Phul Jagjit Singh Gill and sub-inspector Gurdeep Singh, the then Phul station house officer, observing that Bhola was unnecessarily proceeded against.

Replying to a media query in the court complex about the multi-crore drug racket case in which he is the alleged kingpin, Bhola said probe must be conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter.
