24x7 ‘Gudiya’ helpline to safeguard women in HP
SECURING STEP CM says there will be zero tolerance towards crime against women
: Chief minister (CM) Jai Ram Thakur announced a soon to be launched 24x7 ‘Gudiya’ helpline on Friday for safety of women. He said a special crime cell will be set up in all three police range offices that would immediately act on information of any crime against women in the state.
While addressing at the ‘Meet the press’ programme at Press Club, Shimla, he said the day to day reporting would be monitored by chief minister office (CMO) and action will be taken within 48 hours.
“There will be zero-tolerance for crime against women. Law and order is a big issue. We will create an environment where such incidents do not take place,” he said. He added that stringent measures would be taken to curb drug menace and cyber crime in the state.
The chief minister also sought suggestions from the press for better performance of the government. “I believe in strengthening the ‘fourth pillar’ of democracy and our government would be ever ready for it,” he said.
Thakur directed the authorities for early completion of the Press Club building near Subzi Mandi. He assured to look into the matter pertaining to pensioner and medical facilities to journalists.
He also announced ₹5 lakh for the Shimla Press Club.
President of the Shimla Press Club, Dhananjay Sharma, welcomed the chief minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. Education minister Suresh Bhardwaj, mayor Kusum Sadret, deputy mayor Rakesh Sharma, director of public relations Dinesh Malhotra and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
