Cop who helped nab gangster Simma seeks security for his family
FARIDKOT: Police inspector Amritpal Singh Bhaati, who led the police operation wherein mostwanted gangster Harsimrandeep Singh alias Simma Behbal was arrested from Dehradun on January 13, has sought security cover for his family.
Bhaati, posted with the crime investigation agency (CIA) wing of Faridkot police, has written a letter to the director general of police (security), saying he apprehends threat to his family members from gangsters.
Faridkot police have already provided security to Amritpal and recommended security cover for his family too.
“Since January 2017, inspector Amritpal Singh Bhaati has been part of several operations against gangsters in Malwa region of the state,” said sources.
On June 14, 2017, Faridkot SSP Nanak Singh and Amritpal had led the operation against gangsters Kamaljeet Singh alias Bunty Dhillon, Jaspreet Singh alias Jumpy Don, both residents of Jaitu in Faridkot, and Nishan Singh of Ferozepur, all aides of Vicky Gounder, in Haryana. The trio committed suicide after they were surrounded by the police.
Amritpal also arrested gangster Ramandeep Singh alias Ramana Sekhon, a close aide of gangster Goru Bacha, near Moranwali in Faridkot. Sekhon is a member of Kala Nepali gang and has been active for the past nine years.
Inspector general (Bathinda zone) Mukhwinder Singh Chhina hailed Amritpal’s work and said, “We will ensure that adequate security is given to his family.”
