: The father of Rohtak martyr Monu Singh on Thursday blamed the politicians over increasing Indian soldiers’ casualties at border. Surajan Singh, the bereaved father, made the statement minutes after Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited the family to pay condolences.

Monu, 28, a resident of Rohtak’s Basana village, had succumbed to bullet wounds at a Delhi hospital 10 days after he was injured in a militant attack at army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara. He had recently married in November last year.

“Whatever is happening is due to politics of netas. The armed forces are not weak. Give them free hand and they will destroy Pakistan in four hours. But then how will these politicians of our country seek votes to win elections?” Singh said.

Monu belonged to the family of soldiers. His elder brother Sonu is presently serving as a sepoy in the army while his father retired few years ago. But the angry father now wants to join the army again to avenge his son’s death.

“This is getting intolerable to see our young children dying everyday. I want to pick the gun and join duty again to fight Pakistan and militants. All ex-servicemen like me will come forward and strengthen the forces,” he said.

The chief minister further said the government will assure all help to the family as per its policies. The state government gives ₹50 lakh to the kin of every martyr from state who dies in action.

KHATTAR GIVES EX GRATIA OF ₹50 LAKH TO GURGAON CAPT’S KIN

Four days after Captain Kapil Kundu was martyred in Jammu & Kashmir’s Rajouri, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar visited his village, Ransika, located 33km from Gurgaon.

Khattar handed a letter of ex-gratia, amounting to ₹50 lakh to Kundu’s mother Sunita Devi, and said the government will name a state project in his honour. On Wednesday, Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh had announced that a government school in the village, a road leading to the village, and a bus stand located in Khod village, which is near Ransika, will be named after the 22-year-old martyr.

The minister added that he will request the chief minister for providing a government job for Kundu’s two sisters, a memorial immortalising the martyr and establish a memorial health center.

On Thursday, state government officials said the naming of the government school, road leading to the village, and bus stand at Khod village with ‘Shaheed Kapil Kundu’ prefix has been approved.

Talking about the Union minister’s appeal for providing a job to Kundu’s sisters, Khattar said the jobs will be given “as per rules and regulations of the state government.”

“The sisters will be provided jobs in accordance with the state government rules. I have also appealed to residents of the village that they should also assist the martyr’s family in their time of distress,” Khattar said.

However, Kundu’s relatives said they were disappointed that state government did not guarantee jobs for his sisters.
