TARN TARAN : The city police on Saturday booked two brothers along with two others for allegedly opening fire at their mother and sister at their house in the Golden Enclave here.

The accused have been identified as Hira Lal and Lovepreet Singh while the two others are yet to be identified by the police.

In her complaint to the police, Prem Kaur, 47, said on Friday that she and her daughter were alone in their home on Friday and when she was preparing tea around 7.30 pm in the kitchen and her daughter was in her bedroom, some unidentified people opened fire at them from outside.

“Two of the fireshots hit the refrigerator in the kitchen.. After the shooting, some people started a bike in the street. I immediately came near the main gate of my house and saw four people on two bikes leaving the spot,” she said, and added that she saw their back and was sure that two of the them were her sons, Hira and Lovepreet.

They have been nursing a grudge against them over an old dispute, she said. Both Hira and Lovepreet are married and are living with their respective in-laws in Nanaksar Mohalla and Shabazpur here.

SHO Manjinder Singh said, “A few years ago, Hira and Lovepreet were booked under sections 307 (punishment for attempt to murder) and 420 (punishment for cheating) and their sister had given a statement against the duo in the court, and since then her brothers are not on good terms with the motherdaughter duo.”

“We are not sure whether the accused were the complaint’s sons, but they have been booked on suspicion. It can also be a handiwork of someone for widening the division in the family,” he added.

The station house officer said a case under sections 307 (punishment for attempt to murder), 34 (punishment for acts done in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25-27-54-59 of the arms Act has been registered.

THE ACCUSED HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HIRA LAL AND LOVEPREET SINGH. BOTH ARE MARRIED AND ARE LIVING AT THEIR RESPECTIVE INLAWS’ HOUSES
