Under Modi, federalism has been strengthen­ed, says Capt Abhimanyu

CAMBRIDGE(US): Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu has said that federalism had been strengthen­ed under the Narendra Modi government.

“The implementa­tion of the GST and the smooth functionin­g of the GST Council is the best example of co-operative federalism in a highly complicate­d environmen­t,” he said, during an annual India Conference organised by the prestigiou­s Harvard University on Sunday.

“This is a great era of cooperativ­e and competitiv­e federalism,” Abhimanyu added.

Pitching Haryana as the destinatio­n for investors, he said the state government was trying to reduce the cost of doing business in the state.

“We evaluate each investment proposal. The idea is to reduce the cost of doing business; even as efforts are always on to improve the ‘Ease of Doing Business’,” the minister added.

coming out with a bill proposing capital punishment for those found guilty of such crimes.

Indian Consul General in New York, Sandeep Chakravort­y, moderated the session.
