Rally a wastage of public money: Chautala, Hooda
The opposition parties in Haryana — Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Congress — flayed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah’s rally in Jind on Thursday, alleging misuse of huge amount of public money for organising it.
Calling it a “sheer wastage” of public money, leader of the principal opposition party INLD, Abhay Chautala, said the rally in no way benefitted the state.
“How could Shah claim that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has given a fair and honest government when there are allegations of corruption in several departments, especially agriculture, panchayat development, power department and mines and geology?” he said.
‘A FLOP SHOW‘
Meanwhile, terming the rally a “flop” show, former Congress chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the thin attendance indicated that people of Haryana were no more interested in hollow talks of BJP leaders.
Questioning the motive behind the rally, Hooda said Shah did not make any announcement for any section of society. He also objected to violation of traffic rules by BJP workers who came on motorcycles without wearing helmet while the chief minister allegedly rode a bike without registration number.
Hooda alleged the state government had spent ₹22 crore from the state exchequer on central security forces called in for the rally. “This amount was besides the expenditure on the rally from the state exchequer, which was additional burden on the people of Haryana. The state would have benefitted had the BJP government spent this amount on the central forces for the construction of SYL canal,” he said.
