: The president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday, gave an open invitation to people of Punjab to join the protest to “gherao” the Punjab assembly on the opening day of the budget session in March, to protest against the failure of the Congress government in fulfilling their promises even after completing one year.

“People are frustrated with the Congress, that's why our rallies are accumulating huge gathering. On the first day of budget session, we along with the public will gherao the assembly to protest against the state government,” Sukhbir said while interacting with the media on the sidelines of “Poll Khol” rally held in Garhshankar.

“During the protest outside the assembly, we will play all the videos and audios of commitments made by the Congress before coming to power and show them that to which extent they had lied to people,” Sukhbir added.

He also said the Congress’s so-called finance minister Manpreet Badal, who hardly knows anything about his department, was aware of the financial condition of the state as he had remained a minister in the same department for four years during SAD tenure as well.

“When Manpreet already knew the situation of the state exchequer, he should have written that they have nothing to give in the manifesto, instead of lying in their manifesto,” Sukhbir said.

Terming local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu as the white elephant in the Congress government, he said Sidhu, who is earning ₹6-7 crore by laughing on the TV cannot run the state. He further said, “After becoming a minister, Sidhu instead of initiating any development work, has also stopped the ongoing work started by us.”

In a scathing attack on Charanjit Singh Channi, who recently appeared in news for flipping a coin in deciding the post of teachers, Bikram Singh Majithia said these kind of ministers are needed in circus, not in the government.

“Tuhanu Channi da pata naa, oh Congress da ‘khotta sikka’ jehra pata ni karda firda, eda de mantri circus ch chahide (You know about Channi, that Congress’s useless coin, such people needs to be in circus). Kise Kaabil insaan nu naukri mil jaye eh ni ki merit te faisla karo, eh (Channi) sikke uchhalde firde decision lain layi (A capable person should get the post, not like Channi who flips a coin and takes decision),” Majithia added.

Meanwhile, the SAD leaders also attacked the Congress government on halting all the projects started by their government including Shagun scheme, old age pension, Amritsar’s BRTS project, SC scholarship scheme and Sewa Kenders.

Sukhbir also appreciated the centeral government’s move to form the special investigation team (SIT) headed by chairman justice (retd) SN Dhingra to investigate the role of the Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in 1984 riots after his confession video goes viral.

SAD leaders Bikram Singh Majithia, MP Prem Singh Chandumajra and Daljeet Singh Cheema besides others leaders from Hoshiarpur were present at the rally.
