Suspecting honour killing, cops book 20yrold’s father

-

day after an 19-year-old boy was thrashed to death allegedly by his girlfriend’s brother, a case of suspected honour killing has come to light from Bahadurgarh.

Police have booked the father of a 20-year-old girl after receiving information that her family had discreetly cremated her body on Wednesday evening.

However, the police are also probing the suicide angle.

As per the police, they had information that the family of a Luksar village girl cremated her body discreetly on Wednesday evening.

A team of cops then reached the village and collected samples from the funeral pyre.

After initial investigation, police booked her’s father Ajay Singh under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence). However, by late Thursday evening, the police changed track and said that the reason for the death of the girl could also be suicide.

“The villagers had told us that the girl had died of strangulation. She was cremated within an hour of her death in late evening. So we initially suspected that her family killed her. But now, interrogation is indicating towards suicide.

The reasons are being investigated. The family has been detained for questioning and they maintain that she hanged herself,” ASP Shashank Sawan said.
